Frequently Asked Questions *
What can I expect in my first session?
The first session is the very beginning of us getting to know each other. We discuss what brought you to therapy and begin laying some ground for future work together. This is a chance for you to get to know my style as well, see if it feels right.
How long is a session?
Sessions run from 50 - 60 minutes. If you have a need for a longer session we can discuss this together.
How often should I come to therapy?
Most clients come every fortnight to begin. However, if you feel that you need more support than that, we can begin weekly and see how we go from there. If we have been seeing each other for a while and it is more maintenance we can also drop down to once a month. Really I we can scale depending on your needs at the time.
Do you offer Medicare Rebates? And what is the cost of a session?
Not at this time, howerver, I hope to in the future. Some Private Health Insurers offer a rebate. However, I charge $140 an hour, so you pay more for the first 6 or 10 sessions of your mental health plan.
However, after the mental health plan is finished the amount you pay increases substantially. So my fee is much more sustainable over long term. Rather than affordable for the length of your mental health plan, and then you need to end the therapy as you can no longer afford it.
Do you offer in person and online?
I currently just offer online Telehealth, but I am setting up my office and will soon offer in-person sessions as well. Research has shown that online is just as effective as in person, and in fact can be more practical to fit into people’s lives.
Do you specialise in anything?
Yes, I am a trauma informed therapist. And I work with life transitions, especially, infertility, motherhood, bereavement, loss of job and end of relationships. I work with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, loneliness and grief. Get in touch and we can discuss what is bringing you to therapy
